Now that my midterm demonstration video is complete I feel a lot better about the progress I have made and how far I have come. Now that I know all the basics with playing the ukulele, I can focus on learning the last two songs “Riptide” by Vance Joy and “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” by Israel Kamakawiwoʻole. I have already started learning the song “Riptide” by Vance Joy. The strumming patterns used in this song are DD UDU, DDUUDU, and DDDD. The chords used in this song are Am, G, C, and F. I already know how to do the strumming patterns along with the chords, so now it’s just about knowing when to do which strumming pattern. Below, I have broken it down in a way to better understand:

Chords for Inro, Verse 1, and Pre Chorus: Am, G, C
Strumming Pattern: DD UDU (once on Am and G, twice on C)
Hold the C chord for “and they come unstuck” lyric

Chords for the Chorus: Am, G, C
Strumming Pattern: DDUUDU (once on Am and G, twice on C)

Chords for Verse 2 and the next Pre Chorus: Am, G, C
Strumming Pattern: DD UDU (once on Am and G, twice on C)
Hold the C chord for “and they come unstuck” lyric

Chords for the Chorus: Am, G, C
Strumming Pattern: DDUUDU (once on Am and G, twice on C)

Chords for the Bridge: Am, G, C, F
Strumming Pattern: DDUUDU
Do strumming pattern twice on each chord
Hold the F chord for “any other way” lyric

Chords for the next part of the Bridge: Am, C, G
Strumming Pattern: D (one down strum on each chord)

Chords for the Chorus: Am, G, C
Strumming Pattern: DDUUDU (once on Am and G, twice on C)

With this, when I am practicing I can look at it when I am playing and know exactly what to do!
